Risk and Compliance Officer

What is offered

Position:               Risk and Compliance Officer

Reporting to:        Manager, Actuarial, Risk & compliance

Job Summary    

The role is responsible for ensuring that risks are monitored and managed within the risk appetite and ensuring organizational compliance with.

PART A (Risk)

  1. Policy development and review especially ERM Framework, Risk Appetite Framework and AML/ CFT policy.
  2. Assist in the development and review of departmental policies and manuals (Both company and department).
  • Operational manuals.
    • Underwriting
    • Claims
    • Credit
    • Finance
    • Audit
  • Companies’ IPS (Investment policies on the company)
  • Data protection.
  • ICT policy.
  • Reinsurance policy.
  • BCP
  1. Drive all risk management actions in the company: Risk identification, assessment, solution development and Implementation, Monitoring and review and Reporting.
  • This shall also include AML risk assessment, tracking and reporting to both FRC and IRA.
  1. Promote a risk management culture to support the implementation and effective operation of enterprise risk management. This includes:
    1. Developing and maintaining a resource center for risk material (including training manuals)
    2. Leading risk training efforts within the company.
  2. Maintain up-to-date departmental and company risk registers.
  3. Develop and share monthly, quarterly and annual risk reports with the Board and Management.
  4. Support and monitor testing of business continuity plans.
  5. Offer management advise on issues i.e.
  • Strategy, development and review.
  • Product development, etc.

 

PART C (Compliance)

  1. Develop and continuously review compliance framework
  2. Develop and continuously review compliance dashboard.
  3. Monitor levels of compliance and reporting.
  • External (Legislation)
    • AML/CFT
    • UFAA
    • KRA
    • Company’s act
    • IRA, etc.
  • Internal (in relation to company policies and procedure manuals)

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Insurance, Law or an equivalent
  • Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CISA or risk management will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • One (1) year relevant experience in risk management at a similar sized financial services firm.
  • Insurance sector experience is an added advantage.
